Demo: The Red Line

With this painting, I decided to utilize an antique plumb bob that belonged to my grandfather. But I didn’t want a typical still life, so decided that a hand holding the tool would be more interesting.

Underpainting

After setting a background, The arm and hand were underpainted with a rather bright verdaccio. The plumb bob was underpainted in pure vermillion.

The Flesh Palette

For this painting, I used a rather simple palette of flesh tones … Titanium Buff, Burnt Green Earth, Iron Oxide Orange, Cote D’Azur Violet, Zinc White and Cerulean Blue.

Nearly Finished

The basics are in place, and the remaining steps are few. The background has been developed to look like an old wall. The red line will be the last item to paint.
